Dorianis Peréz, Ph.D., is an alumna mentor of Our Future Is Science (OFIS) at the Aspen Institute Science & Society Program and completed her Ph.D. in Computational Science from Florida State University, where her research focused on characterizing turbulence in simulations of wind flow over a forest canopy for wildfire applications. As a first-generation college graduate and daughter of Dominican immigrants, Dorianis has a passion for programs and organizations that propel underrepresented communities into STEM fields. She serves as the Vice President of Collegiate Relations for SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers) New Mexico Professional, a non-profit that focuses on community-building and professional advancement for Hispanics in STEM, the Board Secretary for The MASTERS Program Early College Charter High School, and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Physical Sciences at Northern New Mexico College. She has been involved with OFIS since its inception as a Mentor, Ambassador, and Lead Ambassador.
