Dr. Susan Guzmán-Treviño has over 27 years of educational experience dedicated to student success and advancing college completion. She currently serves as Vice President of Academic Affairs at Temple College. In her previous roles, she held positions as Interim Vice President of Educational Services, Liberal Arts Division Director, Communications Department Chair, and English/Education professor. In addition to serving as Temple College’s accreditation liaison, Dr. Guzmán-Treviño leads the College’s work as a Cadre 1+ member of the Texas Pathways Project which is based on the Association of Community College’s (AACC) model for guided pathways. She also leads the institution’s Achieving the Dream efforts. Dr. Guzmán-Treviño provides leadership and support for the College’s assessment of student learning, college-wide professional development, and student success efforts.
Dr. Guzmán-Treviño’s focus is on supporting educational attainment and career opportunities for all students. She facilitates high quality professional development opportunities for faculty and staff to ensure an exemplary and successful student experience. Through various collaborative efforts, she works closely with school district partners, other community colleges, 4-year universities, the community, and local businesses.
Dr. Guzmán-Treviño completed post-doctoral work in the Community College Leadership Program at The University of Texas at Austin. She also received her Ph.D. and M.Ed. in Education from The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Guzmán-Treviño earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor and an Associate of Arts from Temple Junior College. Selected to participate in the Aspen Rising Presidents Fellowship, College Excellence Program.
