Edgar Soto is the Vice President at Pima Community College Desert Vista Campus. He is a native Tucsonan and attended local public schools, graduating from Tucson High School in 1987. Edgar earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from the University of New Mexico in 1993. He has a Post-Baccalaureate Certification in Education from the University of Arizona and a Master’s Degree in Multicultural Education from Northern Arizona University. He is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. For more than 20 years, Edgar has worked at Pima in a variety of roles.
Edgar is a frequent presenter and public speaker at many events and is active on many community boards of directors. Edgar is a bold advocate for increasing college completion rates and closing equity gaps. He believes that all students should have equal access to complete a college education or a credential of value. In addition, he believes that, with a clear path and a little support, our students can get a high-quality education that will help them live productive and meaningful lives and that the entire community will share the benefits of their success. Selected to participate in the 2021 Aspen Rising Presidents Fellowship.
