Evelyn Ochoa is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She works as a teaching assistant for an introduction to engineering design class. In high school, Evelyn worked with the TRIO program, which led her to become a STEM education advocate, exposing students to STEM through workshops. She is passionate about volunteering for a program that exposes high school students to STEM. She said “I felt that coming from a low income family and graduating from a low income based school I had a social responsibility to further educate other students the opportunities STEM education could bring them”. Evelyn is passionate about combating climate change and more sustainable manufacturing. Selected as a 2021 Aspen Young Leaders Fellow-Chicago.
