Hannah Flynn is an Executive Assistant at Ascend at the Aspen Institute. In this role, she specifically supports the Founder and Executive Director. Prior to joining Ascend, Hannah served as a high school special education teacher in the West Garfield Park community of Chicago as a Teach for America corps member. In her time as an educator, she earned a Master’s degree, served as a point person for parent connection and was an inaugural member of her school’s Equity in Action task force.
Teaching in a close-knit, vibrant, high-need community fostered Hannah’s belief in uplifting families as an entire unit and embracing the two-generation (2Gen) approach. Serving as an educator during the COVID-19 pandemic, Hannah leveraged technology and relationship building to support young people and families who faced heightened racial, educational, and economic oppression.
Hannah graduated from the University of Virginia in 2019 with a degree in Government and Bioethics. She has a special interest in supporting justice-impacted families and reimagining the way our society defines justice.
