Elise Hernandez is the 2016 Community Strategies Group summer intern. Originally from Miami, Florida, she completed her undergraduate studies in Psychology at the University of Central Florida. She earned her Masters in Social Work at the University of Michigan in 2014, focusing on aging and community organizing. As a social work intern, she was involved with elder eviction prevention and hoarding intervention, where she engaged in capacity building and advocacy efforts with community leaders across the county.
Elise is currently a doctoral student in Social Work and Psychology at the University of Michigan. She is a National Science Foundation Predoctoral Fellow researching intergenerational social support, social service use, and well-being among older Latina/os. She intends to pursue a career in program evaluation, policy research, and teaching upon completion of her Ph.D.
