James D. Lapierre is a Manager, Workforce Development with the City of Toronto, whose work focuses on developing programs that support low-income residents to develop relevant skills and connections to good quality employment opportunities and career pathways. Mr. Lapierre plays a lead role in the City’s Workforce Development Strategy, managing several sector-focused workforce development projects. For example, Mr. Lapierre is supporting sector pathway pilots within the United Way Toronto & York Region’s Career Navigator™ and is the City lead on an inter-organizational working group on the development and implementation of a construction sector workforce development pathway in Toronto.
James Lapierre is a member of the Toronto Sector Skills Academy, Class of 2016-17, one of several Workforce Leadership Academies in localities across North America.
The Workforce Leadership Academies are part of the Economic Opportunity Fellows Network, a network of leadership and fellowship programs run by the Aspen Institute Economic Opportunities Program.
