Josephine Bias Robinson

Josephine Bias Robinson is the Director of Projects in the Center for Rising Generations working with the Associates Program.  Josephine will work with the inaugural cohort of Associates to support their leadership as they bring CRG youth-focused initiatives to life and partner with other Aspen programs to more intentionally integrate youth voice and perspective.

Josephine is the Former Founding Executive Director of the District of Columbia Education Research Collaborative, a research-practice partnership at the Urban Institute. Her expertise is in community-engaged participatory practices – bringing those who make policy and decisions more proximate to the people they serve.  Previously, she served as the Chief of Family and Public Engagement for the District of Columbia Public Schools, where she managed key partnerships and facilitated numerous citywide engagement processes supporting educational improvements.

She has held presidential appointments in the Bush White House and the US Department of Health and Human Services. She has also served in senior leadership roles at the HSC Health Care System and the United Way Worldwide, was a Senate committee staff member on Capitol Hill, and led the President’s Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS.

Josephine has a BS in International Affairs and Politics from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. She is committed to the principle of finding joy in the journey both personally and professionally. She enjoys time in community with family and friends, enjoying music festivals (traveling to the North Sea Jazz Festival annually0; cooking (she re-enacts episodes of Chopped at least once a week); and her competitive energy is channeled into board games (anyone up for Scrabble?) and all things Peloton.
