Karyn Goven is the current Director of Workforce Development for Southwest Economic Solutions in Detroit, Michigan. She oversees a multitude of programs that include the Earn + Learn program, Randolph CTE, Detroit at Work Career Center, Youthbuild, Center for Working Family (CWF) and the Learning Labs. Included in her duties is writing grants for SWES that help support programs for families in Detroit. Prior to working at SWES, Karyn worked in adult education and workforce development throughout the state. Her career has taken her to various Adult, Community, and Early Childhood leadership positions. In addition, Karyn worked with the state adult education department and opened 9 Learning Labs in Detroit. She also serves on boards in state and national organizations, service organizations. And sites on the board for a charter alternative school.
Karyn Goven is a member of the Detroit Workforce Leadership Academy Class of 2020, one of several Workforce Leadership Academies in localities across North America.
