Lucia Casanovas (La Paz, Bolivia) was born in 1980 in La Paz, Bolivia. She studied Economics and got a Master’s Degree in Economics for Development in Oxford University. Lucia’s career and specialization were chosen because she always wanted to work in development. Her professional life began in 2003 when she started to get in touch with productive development: the idea of working to create sustainable opportunities for people to become the owners of their destiny completely won her over.
Between 2007 and 2015, after getting her Master’s Degree, she worked in a private foundation to generate more and better markets for small urban and rural producers. At the end of 2015 she got the opportunity to work at Fundación IES which, through strategic advice to companies and investors, channeling financial resources, and developing business environments, promotes the creation, growth and consolidation of dynamic companies in sectors that favor the economic and social development of the country. This is the organization she would be representing at the ANDE Annual Conference. (Participated in The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs Annual Conference in September 2016.)
