Marcos Lavandera is responsible for health data analysis and staff training with experience in diabetes epidemiology as well as implementing the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) and Lifestyle Change Program in rural Mexico. Marcos has served as a nutritional education coach in a research fellowship at the Institut d’investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer and, also, has participated in the training-workshop Innovative Nutrition: From the garden to the molecule or vice versa, presented by a group of instructors from IDIBAPS, CIBERDEM, Astra Zeneca and Alicia Foundation in Barcelona, Spain. Marcos has taught the workshop ´Learn about Diabetes´ in different forums. Marcos also has collaborated in research projects applying the Diabetes Prevention Program among various underservedethnic groups. In addition, Marcos has publications related to obesity, physical activity and diabetes in scientific journals, as well as two professional theses. He holds a BSc in Nutrition from University of Sonora and a MSc in Epidemiology from the Research Center for Food and Development.
