Matias de Dovitiis is the Executive Director for the DUKE Heights Business Improvement Area (BIA), the second largest BIA in North America. Established in 2014, the DHBIA has over 3,000 businesses and 32,000 employees, with over 34,000 people coming into the BIA every workday. The organization’s size, partnerships and mandate have grown significantly since Matias has taken on the role of Executive Director. He has successfully facilitated the rebranding strategy of the BIA and turned the organization into a catalyst for change and improvement in the area, including the development of the first BIA led workforce strategy, a sector development strategy and several economic development initiatives. Prior to this position, Matias worked for eight years at City Hall, as the Executive Assistant to City Councilor Anthony Perruzza. He also works on countless community initiatives, starting several community organizations and most recently, the charitable organization CONOSER, which develops educational programs for Latinx youth in the GTA. Matias holds a Master’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Alberta and an Honours degree from the University of Toronto.
Matias de Dovitiis is a member of the Toronto Sector Skills Academy, Class of 2016-17, one of several Workforce Leadership Academies in localities across North America.
