Associate Director of Risk Management, Aspen Institute

As the Associate Director of Risk Management, Rachel Mallison provides risk consultation and leadership to the Aspen Institute, enabling its programs and departments to manage and mitigate risks that could jeopardize its people or mission objectives.

Before joining the Aspen Institute in June 2022, Rachel worked for the U.S. Senate Sergeant at Arms serving as a program manager in the Office of Security and Emergency Preparedness where she managed multiple disaster response and recovery programs. While on the Hill, she worked on all aspects of congressional emergency management and continuity for events like the Biden/Harris Inauguration, States of the Union, and high-profile testimonies and responded to all emergencies affecting the Senate, including January 6th.

Prior to her time with the Sergeant at Arms, she worked as a consultant for the Cadmus Group where she designed mass-casualty incident exercises for the FEMA National Exercise Division and the DHS Office of Academic Engagement’s Campus Resiliency Program. Rachel holds an MPSA in Nonprofit Management and a BA in Political Science from Texas A&M University.
