Richard Stettner, Vice President of Aspen Campus Facilities and Operations, is responsible for oversight of Salamander Hotels and Resorts’ management of the Institute’s Aspen Meadows campus and works to ensure its high-quality operations. Richard plays a key role in the planning and managing of capital projects on the campus and in preserving its Bauhaus design aesthetic. Richard is tasked with nurturing relationships with the Meadows’ neighbors, Aspen city officials, and the public and, along with Cristal Logan in her role as VP for Aspen Community Programs and Engagement, he represents the Aspen Institute externally across the Roaring Fork Valley community. Richard works to maximize the financial success of the Meadows property and to improve the overall marketing of its offerings. He oversees the work of Director of Facilities and Operations Carrie Williams and Conference Services Director Deborah Murphy, and their respective teams. And, finally, he works to ensure safety, security, and business continuity related to all campus operations.
Richard has nearly 25 years of management experience in the hospitality industry. He previously served as Managing Director with the Aspen Skiing Company, where he led the opening of Limelight Hotels in Ketchum, Idaho and in Snowmass Village (CO). Before that, he was general manager of the Limelight Hotel in Aspen. A native Coloradan, Richard has been a resident of the Roaring Fork community for 10 years. He and his wife Jill live in nearby Basalt with their two children Jack and Chloe.
