Sean Buchanan is a 10th grade student who attends Mary Institute and Country Day School. He currently has a high school GPA average of 3.55 and has been on First (3.67 and higher) and Second (3.33 – 3.66) Honors List. He is involved in a number of programs such as the American Graduate Youth Advisory Board for Channel 9 in St. Louis and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). He is on the Youth Advisory Board because he wants to help make a change in St. Louis. He is a member of NSBE because he plans on pursuing a career in civil engineering after he graduates from high school. He has participated in an engineering program at Purdue University and is planning on attending this program again this year. Another program he is a part of is the UMSL Bridge Program, where he takes advantage of a learning opportunity. As newfound member of the Aspen Young Leadership Fellowship, Sean hopes to gain new skills and knowledge that he can use throughout his life to better himself and his surrounding community.
