Vivian Garcia Cruz is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in social work and art therapy at Fontbonne University. She has been civically engaged for several years in order to bring attention to the Latinx community in Missouri. She plans to use her education to help others, especially young children of color who are often stigmatized for seeking mental health services and the immigrant community in St. Louis in general. Vivian emigrated to the U.S. from Mexico with her family and is a first-generation college student. Selected to participate as a 2019-2020 St. Louis fellow of the Aspen Young Leaders Fellowship (AYLF) program.
