Yanela Frias is president of Group Insurance, which produces and distributes a full range of group life, disability, voluntary, and corporate- and trust-owned life insurance. Yanela also retains responsibility for Prudential’s full-service retirement plan record-keeping and administration business until its sale to Empower Retirement closes, which is expected in first-quarter 2022, pending regulatory approvals.
Frias previously led Prudential Retirement, a leading provider of defined contribution, defined benefit, non-qualified deferred compensation plan administration, and institutional investment and risk management services.
Prior to that, Frias led the Investment & Pension Solutions business within Prudential Retirement where she was responsible for several businesses, including Pension Risk Transfer and International Reinsurance, and related institutional product innovation efforts domestically and internationally. Prior to her role with Investment & Pension Solutions, Frias held a number of increasingly responsible roles within Prudential, including serving as chief financial officer for Prudential’s Individual Annuities and Individual Life Insurance businesses.
She is a member of World 50, a private community for C-suite level executives from globally respected organizations to share ideas, solutions and collaborative discovery for a lasting impact. In addition, Frias serves as an advisor and board member to several organizations dedicated to advancing financial wellness, including the Financial Health Network’s Financial Solutions Lab Advisory Council, LIMRA’s Financial Wellness Steering Committee, EBRI’s board of trustees and the Aspen Leadership Forum on Retirement Savings Advisory Group.
Frias received a B.S. in accounting and an MBA in finance from Rutgers University, and is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She serves as the chair of the Prudential Retirement Insurance and Annuity Company Board of Directors.
