Accelerating Inclusive Wealth Creation Through Entrepreneurship
Since 2017, the Aspen Latinos has enlisted diverse cross-sector leaders and stakeholders to support Latino-owned businesses in growing their ventures. We believe that by promoting entrepreneurship and business ownership, we can help close the wealth gap and foster greater economic prosperity for Latinos and other BIPOC communities. Our holistic approach involves partnering with local leaders to co-create data-informed solutions that address their community’s unique needs but that can also be codified and replicated across the country. We also use our role as a convener to increase social capital and facilitate not only connections between leaders but also investment opportunities.
By building coalitions, the Lab strengthens the local ecosystems, reduces fragmentation, and increases knowledge and resources. We aim to support local leaders as they implement short and long-term strategies that build community wealth and highlight their successes in the national sphere.
Aspen Latinos launched the Aspen City Action Lab (City Action Lab) in 2021 as a market-making endeavor to accelerate community wealth building in select cities with significant Latino populations. The lab’s inaugural cohort included Chicago, Illinois; El Paso, Texas; Miami, Florida; Phoenix, Arizona; San Antonio, Texas; and San Bernardino, California. In 2023, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, joined as the seventh city.
