Aspen Latino Business Summit

The Annual Aspen Latino Business Summit is a top-tier platform connecting local leaders to national networks, federal policymakers, and influential investors. The summit examines innovative and successful efforts in growing Latino-owned businesses across crucial disciplines: capacity building, access to capital, supplier diversity, e-commerce and digitalization, and workforce development. This convening takes place during the fall in Washington, DC.

Advancing Economic Mobility

The Annual Advancing Economic Mobility convenes more than 150 C-suite leaders across the private, public, and civic sectors to discuss game-changing pathways to advance economic mobility for Latinos. This nonpartisan event focuses on actionable insights to close and reverse the current Latino wealth and opportunity gaps. At the event, McKinsey & Company, our knowledge partner, unveils its annual report Economic State of Latinos in the US.

Regional Convenings

From the White House to Variety, from Rockefeller to Google, we engage in partnerships that enrich the public conversation on Latino representation and economic contributions. Our exclusive roundtable discussions and focus groups are a space for peer learning and mentoring. Our regional economic summits address the economic needs of Latino communities, presenting information on issues related to representation, digital equity, and economic mobility, among others.

White House Initiative Latino Economic Summits

In 2022, the Aspen Institute partnered with the White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity for Hispanics to host a series of White House Initiative Latino Economic Summits in several cities across the country. The summits highlight the administration’s commitment to advancing equity and economic empowerment and connect Latinos directly with federal leaders and resources.

Summits took place in Chicago, Illinois; Denver, Colorado; San Antonio, Texas; El Paso, Texas; Atlanta, Georgia; and San Bernardino, California; cross-sector audiences of more than 200 people gathered in each city. First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, Congressman Joaquin Castro, Congressman Danny Davis, Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, and Small Business Administration Administrator Isabella Guzman were among the federal leaders in attendance. They were joined by local leaders such as Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker, Colorado Lt. Governor Diane Primavera, Chicago Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot, San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, and Texas State Senator Cesar Blanco.

Attendees participated in interactive workshops in which staff from the regional offices of various federal agencies discussed current federal programs and gave guidance on applying for and accessing valuable programs and resources. Creating these connections with the federal government ensures that Latinos in each city take advantage of opportunities specifically designed for minority communities and become more engaged with our government.

White House Initiative Latino Economic Summits 

Regional Salon Dinners in Partnership with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

To further advance our goal of deepening networks and increasing connections, Aspen Latinos partnered with the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in 2022 to host a series of private salon dinners bringing together C-suite executives across the public and private sectors. Participants are committed to strengthening the local economies of Latino majority cities. The salon dinners were strategic and collaborative gatherings held with the goal of building a national network and expanding opportunities for wealth creation through Latino business ecosystems.
