Office of Curriculum and Moderators
Supporting leadership and values seminars at the Aspen Institute
The Office of Curriculum and Moderators supports the Leadership Division and other Institute programs in maintaining and enhancing high-quality seminars by:
- diversifying, developing, evaluating, and deploying moderators
- diversifying, sourcing, and managing curricula
- producing high-quality readings and books.
Moderated, text-based dialogue forms the backbone of the signature seminars of the Seminars Department and the fellowships which comprise the Aspen Global Leadership Network (AGLN). This approach to humanistic dialogue and leadership formation also informs many other Institute programs and leadership seminars run by many of the Aspen International Partners. Seminar curricula are a thoughtfully curated mix of short, stimulating texts from across time and across the globe and are drawn from philosophy, literature, economic theory, history, and the social sciences. Using the readings as a foundation for discussion, our moderators lead an intense and enlightening exploration of the value tensions inherent in the decisions we make in life and in our leadership roles. The Office is committed to preserving, deepening, revitalizing, and extending the Institute’s 75 year tradition of humanistic dialogue and leadership formation.
