2017 Artist-Endowed Foundation Leadership Forum
The 2017 Artist-Endowed Foundation Leadership Forum took place on Monday, November 6th at the Whitney Museum of American Art. An invitational symposium, the Forum convened over 100 senior board and staff leaders of artist-endowed foundations to discuss key issues and innovations in practice and policy that are influencing the field’s charitable impact in art stewardship and cultural philanthropy.
The event was presented by the Hoffman Forum in cooperation with the Aspen Institute Artist-Endowed Foundations Initiative/AEFI and University of Miami School of Law.
The 2017 Forum keynote remarks were offered by the distinguished artist, art historian, educator, curator, collector, and philanthropist, David C. Driskell, who reflected on the vital importance of artists’ creativity and philanthropy during challenging times in our democracy.
In addition to fostering exchange among the field’s senior leaders, the annual Forum informs the research, publication, and knowledge sharing programs of the Aspen Institute’s Artist-Endowed Foundations Initiative/AEFI. Sessions incorporate presentations and discussions among foundation leaders, scholars, experts, thought leaders, and artists.
