This interim report analyzes information generated from interviews with 302 microentrepreneurs about their microbusinesses. Characteristics of the microentrepreneurs and their businesses are presented together with information on the programs that serve them. The microenterprise assistance approach is assessed in relation to its ability to create businesses, create and stabilize jobs, and boost poor communities.
