This report summarizes a set of Benefits21 roundtable discussions we hosted in September and October 2021 with influential leaders: executives from large corporations, small business owners, association leaders, labor organizers, worker advocates, benefit providers, researchers, and investors.

We convened these experts to better understand the state of financial security for workers in the United States amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. This report highlights key perspectives on the types of benefits workers need to support and strengthen their cash flow so they can manage shocks and build resilience for the future. We also identify some of the challenges and barriers we must continue to address to close benefit gaps and potential solutions employers and policymakers can pursue to modernize our benefits system.

This report was developed with support from JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Prudential Financial.
