After an engagement with Chicago Police Department, City of Chicago employees, and fellow Aspen Challenge Chicago competitors-turned-partners at City of Chicago Public Safety Headquarters earlier this month, Wendell Phillips Academy High School sophomore Trevon Walker said, “The train doesn’t stop here.”
The passion, drive, and overall commitment to the work to better their communities that the hundreds of high school students who respond to the Aspen Challenge each year exhibit is inspiring and necessary to be sure, but this train made a scheduled stop at the 2017 Aspen Ideas Festival.
Last week, 24 School District of Philadelphia and eight Chicago Public Schools students embraced the “mind, body, and spirit” foundations of Aspen, CO, hiking, rafting and attending the Aspen Ideas Festival before presenting their respective solutions to police-community relations, food access, and healthy living for an audience of global leaders, policy makers, and entrepreneurs on the Ideas Festival stage.
