This post has been updated to reflect that Michelle Bachelet was re-elected as president of Chile, four years after her first presidential term there.
In a landslide victory of historic proportions, Michelle Bachelet won a second term as president of Chile on December 16, 2013. With 62 percent of the votes, Bachelet received the largest share of votes since 1989. Her re-election comes after a campaign where she promised major tax and education reforms.
In the video above, Bachelet shares lessons of leadership as part of the Madeleine K. Albright Women’s Voices Series. Dr. Julia Sweig, a Nelson and David Rockefeller Senior Fellow and director for Latin America Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations, moderated the discussion.
