“Disasters are tragic and there are no silver linings, but they’re also an opening for people to build friendships across lines of difference. Those are the kind of bonds we need in America.”
-Saket Soni, Job Quality Fellow, CEO & Executive Director, Resilience Force
Job Quality Fellow and winner of the 2024 McNulty Prize Saket Soni aims to improve workers rights and help those who rebuild our cities and homes after disasters with Resilience Force, an organization providing them with a new American profession – certified climate resilience technician.
At the 2024 Resnick Aspen Action Forum, this micro-documentary on Saket’s work shared how our disaster workforce is mistreated, underpaid, and undervalued. To counter these conditions, Resilience Force has attached labor standards to almost $400 million in contracts, protected workers from exploitation and abuse, instilled health and safety protections, and instituted floor wages in the industry.
