Accelerating Impact: An International Digital Equity Showcase
In the wake of COVID-19, digital inclusion has become even more critical. Despite the global growth of digital technologies, nearly half of the world’s population still lacks access to these tools. More families than ever are falling behind in an increasingly digital world, where opportunities are given to those with access. Communities who have historically experienced marginalization continue to be denied the representation, educational opportunities, and resources necessary to grow and thrive in the digital economy.
On the heels of a four-month Digital Equity Accelerator, hosted by Aspen Digital in collaboration with HP Inc., this event highlighted the importance of digital inclusion and showcased the work of seven groundbreaking nonprofits – in the US, India, and Morocco – working to promote education, healthcare, and economic opportunity through digital innovation.
We were joined by:
- Marla Blow, President & Chief Operating Officer, the Skoll Foundation
- Victor Calise, Director of Global Culture, Equity and Inclusion, Walmart
- James McCall, Chief Sustainability Officer, HP Inc.
- Vivian Schiller, Executive Director, Aspen Digital
Presenters from the 2022 Digital Equity Accelerator Cohort:
- Thanae Bennani, Executive Director, Douar Tech
- Jordan Carr, Director of Virtual Programs, Oasis Institute
- Poesy Chen, Innovation Director, Mobile Pathways
- C.C. Joseph, Co-Founder, Fourth Wave Foundation

The Digital Equity Accelerator supercharges local nonprofits closing the digital divide. This Aspen Institute initiative helps to scale efforts to advance digital equity for marginalized and underserved populations, including women and girls; ethnic, racial, and religious minority communities; aging populations; people with disabilities; and the teachers working with these groups.
